Nate Schoen, DDS

Dr. Nate is originally from Wabasha, MN and earned his BA from St. Scholastica, graduating cum laude and his DDS from the University of Minnesota.  Nate married his lovely wife Jill, who is an RN at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. They have two beautiful daughters.  Nate and Jill enjoy visiting wineries, gathering with friends, as well as camping and hiking in this beautiful area.

Melissa Durbin, DT

Dental Therapist

Melissa obtained her Master of Advanced Dental Therapy degree from Metropolitan State in 2022 after 20 years as a Registered Dental Hygienist.  As a mid-level practitioner, Melissa can perform not only all hygiene functions but also fillings, select extractions, preformed and stainless steel crowns in addition to other services.  She recently relocated to Wabasha and is excited to meet the community.  You might run into her outdoors because she loves walking, running, water activities and outdoor music performances.  

Dr. Tom Schoen, Retired

Dr. Schoen started his dental practice in 1982 and appreciated the opportunity to help thousands of people improve their health and maintain those positive changes. After 42 years of practicing in Wabasha, Dr. Tom transitioned into retirement.  As of summer 2024, he is working on only those patients with active orthodontic treatment to complete.  

Dawn, RDH

Dental Hygienist

Dawn attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in Dental Hygiene in 1994.  She has been with us since 2004 and truly loves educating our patients on how to improve and maintain their oral health.  Her smiles and laughter fill her workspace.  To Dawn, every patient is special and captures her undivided attention.  She gives more than 100% effort every single day.  Her meticulous attention to detail ensures that every patient experience is top notch.

When Dawn is not helping to improve our patients’ oral health, you can find her baking, reading, and spending time with her husband and their two sons.

Noelle, RDH

Dental Hygienist

Noelle joined our practice in 2020.  She has worked as a Hygienist since 2003 after receiving her Dental Hygiene degree from Nomandale so we are fortunate to have another experienced member on our team.  She loves getting to know each and every patient and what makes them unique.  

Noelle and her husband Jesse moved to the Wabasha area after living in the Twin Cities for years.  They enjoy small town living and getting to know the community of Wabasha.  In her free time she enjoys walking along the beautiful riverfront with her black lab and four-wheeling in the summer months.

Lynn

Licensed Dental Assistant

Lynn is a familiar face in our office who enjoys interacting with patients and doing her part to provide exceptional dental care.  Lynn has been a licensed dental assistant since 1993 and really shines in the area of orthodontics.

When she's not in the office she enjoys spending time with her husband, her grandchildren and playing with her dog Reba.

Abby

Dental Assistant

Abby is a home grown and raised member of the Wabasha area who has worked in the dental field for many years.  She is married to Jason and is a mom to three great kids; Dylan, Jacob and Annalise; who all enjoy life on their hobby farm outside Kellogg.  She enjoys spending time with her family, whether it’s swimming in their pool or going on Ranger rides with her clan.  We are so fortunate to have Abby as part of our work family!

Julie

Business Office Manager

Born and raised in Minnesota, Julie graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. She says she loves both states and divides her time by working on the MN side of the river and living on the WI side.  Make no mistake about it, she is a Packer fan! Julie joined Schoen Family Dentistry in 2013.

On her days off, you can find her spending time with her husband and three teenage sons, reading, baking, gardening and camping. Her family is especially fond of the National Eagle Center in Wabasha as well as fishing/kayaking the backwaters of the Mississippi.

Janel

Bookkeeper, Sterilization Technician

Janel had been working behind the scenes as our Bookkeeper for a couple of years before she added Sterilization Technician to her job title. She is so much more than that.  Janel is willing to lend a hand with anything and proves every day she is a real asset to the business.  Her ability to provide support to anyone or everyone at the same time is a rare talent.

Janel enjoys the farm life with her family outside of Pepin, Wisconsin. She is married to Josh and has a young son named Jamison and two daughters, McKenna and Sophia. She spends her free time outdoors playing volleyball, hunting and fishing. She also loves spending time in northern Wisconsin at the family cabin. 

Monica

Receptionist

Monica joined us in 2021 at the front desk.  She has been working in the dental field since 2004 when she was first licensed as a dental assistant.  Her knowledge of dental procedures, appointment scheduling, billing and insurance make her an amazing asset.  She has a great smile, likes to laugh and can pull some pranks that are legendary.  Life is too short to be taken too seriously.  (Monica, we want you to know we feel the same way.  When you book a vacation the same day as staff photos, you leave it to our discretion to select a staff photo for you.)

Monica and her husband Eddie moved to Pepin after living near the Twin Cities for years.  She enjoys spending time with her family and her German Shepherd.  In her free time she likes motorcycling, reading and working on her hobby farm.

Breana

Receptionist

Breana was born and raised in Alma, WI.  She loves her hometown so much that when she and Elijah had the opportunity to buy her childhood home and make it their own, they jumped at the chance.  They reside there quite happily now with their dog Millie and cat Khalifa.  Breana loves sushi, Harry Potter and spending time with her family, particularly her two adorable and funny nieces. 

Breana joined us in September 2022.  This is her first time working in the dental field and she has been enjoying it tremendously.
