However, if you are a professional or if you spend much of your time talking to clients or other people in your personal or professional life, you might not want to have a mouth full of metal brackets and wires for several years to achieve the look you desire.
That is why Dr. Thomas Schoen offers a variety of options to our patients wishing to have cosmetic orthodontics without traditional metal brackets and wires.
Clear Correct, Orthosnap, Dandy and SureSmile
Some of the most common alternatives to traditional braces are the Clear Correct, Orthosnap, Dandy and SureSmile methods. They utilize an innovative technology that consists of a series of clear plastic aligners that you change out at regular intervals to gradually move your teeth over time.
The custom aligners take the place of traditional brackets and wires. Each aligner is slightly different from the last one and gradually moves your teeth gently over a series of months, with the length of treatment depending on your unique case. Dr. Tom Schoen will monitor your progress with regular office visits to ensure your treatment progresses properly.
Getting started with Clear Correct, Orthosnap, Dandy or SureSmile begins with digital impressions in our Wabasha, MN dental office. Then we will send away to the Clear Correct, Orthosnap, Dandy or SureSmile labs to receive your custom trays. Because your trays fit snugly, are crystal clear, and are easy to remove to clean or eat, they are extremely convenient for patients to use. You will not need to worry about special tools for brushing or flossing your teeth either since you can completely remove your trays. You should make sure you wear them for at least twenty-two hours per day for your treatment to stay on track.
As with all types of orthodontic treatment, once your treatment concludes, you will need to wear a retainer to prevent orthodontic relapse.
Six Month Braces
Six month braces improve the appearance of your teeth in an average of six months using clear braces and a high-tech memory wire to constantly guide your teeth into their ideal position. Unlike traditional braces that require constant “tightening” or adjustments, the memory wire automatically moves your teeth. This allows us to move your teeth more quickly than traditional orthodontics all while keeping your treatment discreet.
The goal of six month braces is to give you the smile you have dreamed of in the shortest amount of time possible.
Just like any type of orthodontic treatment requires, you will need to wear a retainer after treatment to keep your teeth from drifting back to their original location and undoing your treatment.
